I've been reading Richard Rorty, "Achieving Our Country" and I have to tell you my friends...if he hadn't written this book before the 'onset' of the Bush presidency, I would say that he is a stark raving lunatic. As it is, he's only ridiculously (and even attractively) idealistic.

I've decided that we need to have a new system of rating books. This is to determine the ALO (Appropriate Level of Outrage) that one needs feel. The system is quite simple. The book mentioned above would be, "Achieving Our Country", BW.

BW=Before George W. Bush
AW (note, this IS an expression of disappointment as well)=After George W. Bush

As for the remainder of Rorty's title, I'm assuming that it was only printed in the United States of America and not available for export? Admittedly, I've read...oh...10 pages, but he has yet to make reference to the fact that there is an outside world. "Our" country is so ambiguous...

Now to the title of this post--in the good old USA, I believe that facism and nationalism have contrived to coincide! I find this odd...there is usually some distinction, but the extreme dogmatism of the current administration, combined with their foreign (not to mention HOME!) policy, unmistakably delineates the situation.

As the great President Bush would say, had he only the lack of political savvy that he displayed early on in his presidency, "Sieg Heil, in God we Trust." Welcome to the United States of America, the world's newest theocracy. Would you like a bible...or are some sort of Infidel/Heathen/Atheistic Terrorist? We could use the target practice.

My advice? Stay clear until the plague clears...if you can. We have a disturbing policy of exportation when it comes to national plagues -_-;

The irony of this webpage

The real irony of this webpage ehem, BLOG...you know, it sounds like someone with an awful cold trying to say frog...but to proceed. The real irony of this webpage is that it shouldn't even exist. Here I was, extending myself towards the Other, like a good Levinas-alcolyte, just trying to post a semi-witty response (which I've now forgotten) to someone elses frog, and I was made to become the Other myself, by subjecting myself to Blogdom. I wonder if I have to grow webbing between my toes. It'd be awfully inconvenient, after all, I DO lack the appropriate genes (or at least they're comfortably inactive!) and with Bush in office, it'd be difficult to gain the genetic material from an outside source...but I'm rambling. Welcome to my blog, an accident of History (Hegel would be proud!) but here to stay, I suppose ^_^*
